The BFG

The BFG

The BFG is a curious character with outstanding qualities that no human can posses.
He is a sweet guy that is passionate about his hobbies. He intended no harm to sophie and was nothing like the other giants. Roald dahl is teaching us that the ones who are different are the brightest lights.

Chernobyl 1986

The Chernobyl disaster was a reactor that exploded and let deadly amounts of radiation into the air.

3 fun facts about Chernobyl:
1. Sweden was first to alert the nearby cities to evacuate.
2. Now 33 years after, the radiation is still deadly.
3. Nobody lives in Chernobyl

Do you have cool facts about Chernobyl?
Leave a comment if you do!

My small inquiry

I did a one week inquiry and found out about the Taiaroa shipwreck.

Taiaroa Shipwreck 1886
The Taiaroa grounded near the Clarence River. 4 lifeboats were launched but only one made it to the shore, the others collapsed into the water and their passengers drowned due to the icy water and enormous waves.  The survivors were so shaken by the accident most of them never set foot on a boat again. There were 42 burials of the drowned people, their families grieved over their graves. Most survivors were ashamed because they had failed to save all those lives.

If the disaster happened today you would have a better life vest to help support your weight and the lifeboats wouldn’t collapse into the water because they are designed not to. We have technology that helps with heart attacks and pouches to keep you from freezing to death.

Little Poland

Polish refugees land in New Zealand

When they were welcomed into New Zealand they were given sweets and flowers but they didn't understand what they said to them. They were brought to a town called Pahiatua. New zealand wasn't the only country to exept the poles who were in slave cames in Iran and Iraq.

The Rainbow Warrior Tragedy

Rainbow Warrior Sunk In Auckland Harbour

Image result for rainbow warriorGreat feast broke out when the Rainbow Warrior arrived in the Auckland harbor however that same night the ship was sunk.
The research said that there were 2 bombs one smaller, to make sure everyone was out of the ship before the actual bomb-that was placed to sink the ship-exploded.

My Response To James K. Baxter Poem

It is important to know that when you are helped you won't always get something in return.
The dove was big and strong, why would he help the little ant?
When the man came the dove had no idea he was in grave danger.
The ant immediately came to the rescue and saved the dove's life as the dove had done for him.
I hope that in life there will always be a person to pick you up when you fall.

Today in History

Today in history

Peter Snell wins gold in the 1500 m final in the Tokyo Olympics

His teammate got a bronze medal in the same race.
I wonder why he is called Snell as a last name, in dutch it translates to fast.
Coincidence? I don't think so!

Today's history

                                                                           17/10/2019

Today in 1877 Prendergast, an English judge, claims the treaty of Waitangi "worthless" and "simple nullity".
He describes it as a treaty signed between a civilized nation and a group of savages.
What do you think of the treaty of Waitangi?

The peaceful 3 master cruising quickly.
A Greenpeace sailboat gliding peacefully.
The metal ship sailing relaxingly.
A salty wind whistling loudly.
The fresh air blowing gently.
A clear ocean rippling slowly.
The white dove representing peace.

My paper plane

Hello Peeps!

My paper plane kinda failed yesterday.😕😕😕
I have no idea how I won the competition, honestly.
I used the exact same model but it didn't go far at all.🙁🙁🙁
I'll try to find out what's wrong with it.
Also if your paper plane is light nosed you could add a paperclip to the nose.
Gravity pulls the tail so make a heavy nosed plane to make it fly further.
Any suggestions?
Leave them in the comments below.
Thank You!

This Term Was...

This term was awesome!
We had loads of fun experimenting and observing metals, water and gas.
We made stories, reviews and blog posts.
I had loads of fun making new friends.

During some classes I was tired, hungry or exhausted
and then we had to be super active!
I learned a lot of things about science in experiments
and with writing i use a lot more adjectives.
I discovered i really like writing and i love it!

Did you discover something new in this module?
Don't be shy to say in the comments down below!

Metals And Water

Metals And Water

We looked at the reactions of different metals to hot and cold water.
Calcium reacts the most to both warm and cold water and steel and zinc have no reaction.
Do you know any metals with reactions? Feel free to tel me in the comments.

water experiment

                                        Water Experiment

With our water experiment we got to use stopwatches and thermometers.
we tested water temperature at the time of 30,60 and 90 seconds
as well as testing the temperature of water when it boils.
when we set it up it looks like this

                                                   water boils at 100 degrees.
i think the water temperature can go higher then 100 degrees but not to much.
