Chernobyl 1986

The Chernobyl disaster was a reactor that exploded and let deadly amounts of radiation into the air.

3 fun facts about Chernobyl:
1. Sweden was first to alert the nearby cities to evacuate.
2. Now 33 years after, the radiation is still deadly.
3. Nobody lives in Chernobyl

Do you have cool facts about Chernobyl?

My small inquiry

I did a one week inquiry and found out about the Taiaroa shipwreck.

Taiaroa Shipwreck 1886
The Taiaroa grounded near the Clarence River. 4 lifeboats were launched but only one made it to the shore, the others collapsed into the water and their passengers drowned due to the icy water and enormous waves.  The survivors were so shaken by the accident most of them never set foot on a boat again. There were 42 burials of the drowned people, their families grieved over their graves. Most survivors were ashamed because they had failed to save all those lives.

If the disaster happened today you would have a better life vest to help support your weight and the lifeboats wouldn’t collapse into the water because they are designed not to. We have technology that helps with heart attacks and pouches to keep you from freezing to death.

Little Poland

Polish refugees land in New Zealand

When they were welcomed into New Zealand they were given sweets and flowers but they didn't understand what they said to them. They were brought to a town called Pahiatua. New zealand wasn't the only country to exept the poles who were in slave cames in Iran and Iraq.
